Hey there! I’m Phillip Hinshaw — but most folks just call me Pickle Phil. I’m a movie buff with a soft spot for the Back to the Future trilogy, and I’ve got a shelf of LEGO builds that may or may not have taken over my desk.
I recently got into disc golf and I like to ride my Specialized CrossTrail bike — though I’ll admit, since moving to OKC, it’s been collecting more dust than miles! I love trying new foods, hitting Comic Cons, and wandering through museums (mostly history, but I’ll stop for art too).
What I really love about Comic Cons is getting to walk around, be a little nerdy, see incredible comic art, and meet amazing people — like the voices of Pooh and Tigger, or Biff from Back to the Future. Every event’s a mix of nostalgia, fandom, and community — and it’s just pure fun to see all sorts of people come together for something they love.
I’m a huge fan of musicals — “Singing in the Rain” gets me every time. Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor absolutely nailed it. I was also part of an all-men’s a cappella group called A Cappella Federation and sang Vocal Jazz in college — a fun, challenging season I truly miss. Jazz speaks to me; it’s freedom and structure all at once, and that’s what I love about it.
I share life’s adventures with my amazing wife, Cristina. We’re both animal lovers, explorers, and goofballs at heart. Whether we’re traveling, serving, or just laughing our way through the day, we try to see God’s fingerprints in every bit of it. Because at the end of the day, the real core of who I am is honoring God in everything I do.
